Sheikh Muhammad Sadiq Muhammad Yusuf was appointed Mufti of the Religious Office of the Muslims of Central Asia and Kazakhstan at the General Congress of the Religious Office held in 1989. In addition, he became the first mufti of the independent Republic of Uzbekistan.
